Another great restaurant has opened in Jersey City! Mathews Food and Drink is the new hot spot in the area and we can’t wait to check it out. You may have seen some of their signature drinks floating around social media such as their 80’s glam drink which is a fancy cocktail with confetti froth. It also looks AND taste delicious from what we’ve heard.
The establishment was opened by the same owners of White Star Bar which is a very popular restaurant in Jersey City. If you haven’t been here, you’ll want to add that to your to-do list! It’s a casual restaurant and craft cocktail bar that has one of the best burgers in the city. They use meat from Pat LaFrieda, bread from Balthazar and the freshest local veggies in New Jersey. They have two locations in Jersey City because they are that good!
Mathews will be in the former La Conguita space and has received a nice redesign with a modern and spacious look. Their cocktail menu was created by Cody Goldstein who is the founder of Muddling Memories. They are a cocktail and bar consulting firm based out of New York City and know their stuff! We also heard that the Fisherman’s Stew is a must if you’re a seafood lover. It’s a rich, seafood stew served in lobster broth and includes mussels, cod, crab, shrimp and clams. Meat lovers will be happy to hear they have a nice grilled hanger steak which is served with crispy potato wedges, roasted tomato and chimichurri. Mathew’s also serves a vegan 5 Bean Cassoulet.
