July 25, 2018

If you’re someone who loves sampling delicious food from some of the best food trucks in the tri-state area than you’re in luck.  On Saturday, July 27th, Madox residents will be able to indulge in a variety of cuisines such as empanadas, pizza, doughnuts, cupcakes, cheesesteaks, seafood, pad Thai, tacos and areppas and more.

Warung Roadside – This truck aims to recreate the Bangkok streetcart experience with delicious pad thai and thai bbq made in a way that honors Thai traditions. They source many ingredients from Thailand and use local organic produce whenever possible and antibiotic and hormone free meat from local farms.  Warung Roadside prides themselves on being committed to using ecofriendly serving trays, plates, and utensils.

Philly Fry – This company believes in doing one thing and doing it really well: French fries. As a small business, they’re constantly looking for ways to push the boundaries, using fresh ingredients and inventive combinations to change the way that people think about French fries.

Whether it’s a festival, corporate party, or wedding, Philly Fry is your go-to mobile food vendor to deliver a classic Philadelphia French fry with a new and delicious twist.

Mordi’s Schnitzel – Mordi’s Schnitzel Truck was opened in April 2014 out of the love of two things – Israeli street food & Jersey City! They have a simple but important goal: to provide excellent customer service and quality, homemade Israeli street food from the freshest ingredients possible. Some items off the menu which are hits are the schnitzel cutlets, falafel sandwiches and any of their sub sandwiches!

Hudson County Restaurant Week

July 23, 2018

Summer Restaurant Week is finally here! Jersey City residents have two weeks to enjoy discounted three course dinners and two course lunches from some of the finest restaurants in Hudson County.  Each restaurant lists their mouth-watering dinner and lunch menu, making it a tough decision on where to choose.  They’ve also added some new participating restaurants close to your Madox apartment.  Here are some places that won’t disappoint:

Edwards Steak House – If you’re a meat lover, Edward’s should be your first choice for Restaurant Week. On their menu, they have their 6 oz petite filet, Hudson Valley grass fed steak frites, baby lamb chops and their steak for two special which includes two appetizers, 38oz bone-in ribeye sliced for two, mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach and two desserts.

Laico’s – This classic Italian restaurant is a hidden gem in Jersey City. Some of their customers have been eating there for over 45 years and have had nothing but excellent experiences.  You can’t look at their Yelp reviews without getting hungry – they have 165 reviews and 4/5 stars.  Some favorites from their three-course dinner menu are the grilled prime pork chop, eggplant rollatini and the stuffed shrimp with crabmeat. For dessert, go with the homemade pound cake.  It’s simple, but delicious!

Amelia’s Bistro – This restaurant serves American food in a cozy and dimly lit ambiance.  They also have tables outside where you can enjoy the summer breeze. With over 443 reviews on Yelp, it’s no surprise that Amelia’s is a favorite in Jersey City.  It also happens to be just a couple minutes away from your Madox apartment.  If you’ve been here before for Restaurant Week, you’ll be happy to hear that they have kept their same three-course dinner ($30.00) and two-course lunch ($17.00) menu.  What we love about Amelia’s is that the food is always consistent and delicious.  Our two favorite dishes off their Restaurant Week menu are the chicken sauvignon and the braised boneless beef short ribs.

Famous Food Market in Jersey City

July 19, 2018

The best part about the summer is spending time outside. This often means trips to the beach or some destination that takes time, transportation, and effort. If you are looking for something easy and local all while being outdoors then you’re in luck. Every weekend until October 28th, Madox residents can enjoy Famous Food Market, the family friendly and FREE entry event that takes place every Saturday and Sunday at Harborside JC.

Famous Food Market is a spin off event from Famous Food Festival. The Famous Food Festival is a traveling organization based in NYC that provides both new and well-known vendors a chance to showcase their talents, creativity, and delicious works of art while bringing together their local community. It’s aim is to provide the tastiest, flavorful foods that America and its vast range of cultures have to offer in your neighborhood. Famous Food Market does just that by allowing you to “taste the world” at their food market every weekend until the end of October. They also have local craft vendors if you’re looking for something for your home or a great gift.

Come out and meet your neighbors and small business owners in Jersey City. Summer Music in Jersey City

July 9, 2018

We still have two fun-filled months of summer left. While hitting the beach and laying by the pool is fun, don’t forget that Jersey City has a few places where residents can enjoy free music.  Two of our favorite places to enjoy live music this summer are Liberty State Park and J. Owen Grundy Pier.

Every Sunday and Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Liberty State Park hosts Summerfest 2018.  Pack a blanket, gather some friends and enjoy live tunes on the Hudson River with the beautiful Manhattan backdrop. Each week they’ll have different genres of music such as jazz, classic rock, pop, folk, indie and much more.  It’s a wonderful way to end the week or to get some fresh air after a long day at work.

Take a midday music break down on the water at J. Owen Grundy Pier.  Nearly every Thursday this summer, The City of Jersey City, the Office of Cultural Affairs and RiverviewJazz are welcoming a range of jazzy artists for two full hours of groovy tunes.  The pier stretches out onto the Hudson River and has incredible views of the Manhattan skyline.  They have benches available, but feel free to bring your own comfy chair. All events are free, family-friendly and barrier-free. In the event of rain, concerts will be held in the Harborside Atrium, 34 Exchange Place.

Solar Panels Are Now Installed at Madox Apartments!

July 5, 2012

On Friday, the first set of solar panels were installed on the roof of Madox Apartments to provide over 32kW of electric back to the grid. The power that one solar panel, or “module,” can produce is rarely enough to meet requirements of a home or a business, so the modules are linked together to form an Photovoltaic array.
